This course is hosted by New York City NVC (NYC/NVC) with founder Thom Bond. It is designed to increase your ability to:
- Develop skills to stay aligned/balanced even when hearing challenging viewpoints
- Listen/sort/think/speak on your feet, with integrity, under pressure
- Sense the creative possibilities beneath an apparent conflict
- Offer your own style of “leaderly” compassion in any situation
How does this work? The Course runs June 2021 through June 2022 (52 weeks) with Registration open until June 22. It has two parts:
1) The Compassion Course
- Each Wednesday you will receive a short NVC lesson via email from the Compassion Course (NYC/NVC). The first lesson will be published on Wednesday June 23rd, 2021 with subsequent weekly installments published on subsequent Wednesdays until June, 2022. These have been developed by Thom Bond and the team of collaborators at NYC/NVC. All weekly messages include:
- A concept to learn
- A story to illustrate the concept
- Practices to integrate the concept into your life
- Links to previous weeks, videos, exercises and more
- By the end of the year, the course covers over 50 concepts and key NVC differentiations
- Access to Monthly Conferences: As part of the Course, Thom also hosts 12 monthly 1.5 hour conferences (via Zoom) in English. All conferences are recorded and may be accessed at any time throughout the course. Conferences are hosted in other languages by affiliated course leaders.
2) Practice Group Sessions
- Ann will host 90-minute Practice Group sessions via Zoom twice a month, 1stand 3rd Thursdays from 6:30-8:00pm Central time.
- Group time will be used to connect, discuss the 2 most recent weekly NVC lessons, and practice those skills together. Practicing empathy sharing, plus “deep dives” into current life applications are welcomed for the growth of all.
- Ann deeply values and is committed to providing a mutually respectful group energy platform that welcomes all voices & cultural perspectives.
A message from Ann:
This learning opportunity offers what I call a “slow drip” approach (think garden soaker hose) to learning the language, conflict resolution skills and consciousness of NVC versus a “full blast” download of information. It is my belief that this style of connecting together can allow us as learners a more gradual way to “try on” and continue practicing NVC skills in real life. I have been learning NVC since 2005 and know all too well, that changing the communication habits of a lifetime is an ongoing process! And I intend to be “at it” for the rest of my time on the planet! I’d love it if you would consider joining me on this learning journey!
